Why the Sudden Drop in Students of Education Degrees?


With the sudden growth of the electronics and computer industries, more and more students are enrolling in engineering, computer science, information technology, and programming courses leaving behind a very significant field with very few enrollees – the Education discipline.

Education degrees are now experiencing a sudden drop in the number of students enrolling in them, and thus showing a significant decline in the number of practicing professionals under the field of Education. But what could be the factors involved in the sudden decrease of students taking up education degrees?

One of the main reasons is the pay. A lot of educators are complaining that they receive the lowest pay rate as compared to the other industries. Because of this, educational facilities are already looking into promising better incentive packages to their teaching staff, which could contain the benefit of becoming scholarship grantees for a graduate degree.

There is also the growing concern regarding school violence which shuns a lot of aspiring teachers from pursuing their education degrees. This is now being resolved through tighter security for schools in general, as well as programs that guarantee the safety and well-being of teachers as they perform their daily teaching tasks.

This goes to show that the main concerns of educators are now being resolved to address the concerns of current and would-be teachers. Yes, the education field is growing and transforming to better serve the needs of the educators. So why not pursue you education degree, if you’re planning to become a teacher, immediately.
